Playing Angry Birds with Daddy

This was the scene one afternoon while Q was napping and EJ was trying to keep the big boys quiet.

As far as I can tell, Angry Birds is a game where little birds are peeved because pigs stole their eggs.
As the player, you fling the angry little birds with a sling shot towards the pigs.  Is that even close?  I don't know.

I do know that they make really funny sounds when you fling them.

Adoption

Have you ever looked at www.adoptuskids.org?

I think everyone should look there.

At least once.

Once you see their little faces they are real.

Real children in need of real families.

I can hardly stand the reality that we have children growing up in the US (or anywhere for that matter) without permanent families.

It breaks my heart.

God is calling EJ and I to adopt more children.  We have known that for a long time.  Last summer we participated in our state's course on adopting from foster care.  It is the course required to foster and/or adopt from the system.  It takes 30 hours of class time as well as homework and home visits.

For nearly a year, we have been saying to any adoption caseworker who will listen, "WE ARE HERE."  We have put our names in the hat for many different children and sibling sets in several different states.  So far, we have not been selected.

God's timing is perfect and we will continue to trust Him to bring our children home.

He is preparing our hearts and the hearts of our children to receive them.

Just the other day, I was looking at the picture of a  little girl in need of a family.  Bubba climbed up in my lap and asked about her.

Bubba: "Mom, does that little girl need a Mommy and Daddy?"

Me: "Yes, she does."

Bubba: "What happened to her Mommy and Daddy?"

Me: "I don't know.  It is sad that they can't take care of her anymore but I think we should pray that God will bring her a new family fast."

Bubba: "Does she need us?"

(Cue the tears in my eyes and the lump in my throat)

Me: "I don't know yet.  Let's pray for her and tell God that if she needs us, we are here and we are ready."

Bubba: "Mom, I would be happy if she was my sister."

dynamic duo

Sod is on it's way to Four Sisters Farm.  Pop and Grammy have been prepping for the big day.

One of the tasks was to remove rocks from the dirt where the sod would be laid.

Enter the dynamic duo of Grammy and Wubba.

First Wubba digs up some dirt

Next he dumps it on the rake

Then Grammy dumps it in the colander

Then they "shake it don't break it baby"

Now it is time to carry it to the wheel barrow

and dump it right in

Look at all those rocks!

Grammy and Wubba are a fantastic team!

Running Man

Wubba has decided that he does not need a shirt.  He has announced to all of us that he is "Running Man" and therefore will not be wearing a shirt.  He has also decided that he can only wear one pair of shoes...his running shoes.

He has decided that he needs to run a "bunny" race with Daddy.  It took us a while to figure that one out.  Then it donned on us that the medal from EJ's most recent marathon had a rabbit on it.

So...they ran a bunny race together.  I think Wubba won!

I imagine that this little man will indeed run some races with his Daddy.

The down side of this new obsession...it's getting cold here.  Really cold.  I guess we will see how long Running Man can keep this up.

Sweet Dreams - Sweet Schemes

Bubba recently outsmarted/outlasted his mom and did NOT take the daily nap...so after dinner, he drifted off. I'm thinking that he was busy making some plans when he fell asleep.

Here are some possibilities for what was on his mind:

  • How can I best avoid naps in the future? Maybe form a coalition called Kids Against Naps (KAN)?
  • I think the tree house needs another level. I'll have to talk to Pop about that.
  • I'm thinking that snacks are better than meals - maybe I should start a kids' group against actual meal time...if Aunt DW can have a club for Moms Against Mini Vans (MAMV), then maybe I can have a Kids Against Sit Down Dinners (KASDD) or Kids Into Mini Meals (KIMM) or maybe Kids Eat All the Time (KEAT). Surely I can find some research to support my theory that it's better for kids to snack all day.
  • I think I might have to figure out a way to make global warming ACTUALLY happen so that I can put an end to winter, being stuck in the house, and can go get in the tree house.
  • I wonder if Grammy is right about God making me grow when I eat good food and get some sleep...maybe I can grow without napping...zzzzz

Someday he'll want a nap and won't get to take one...probably because a four-year-old will be working hard to stay awake and keep everyone around him awake as well. Is that an injustice or what!?!
