How to party like a 2 year old

Our sweet baby, Wubba, turned 2 just a few days ago. It's hard to believe that it has been two years since my water broke followed by 12 hours of hard labor followed by an emergency c-section. I won't share the labor room stories here but I will tell you I'm not a very nice person when I am in labor. Good thing that will never happen again. (2 emergency c-sections puts a girl out of the running for ever laboring again...always a c-section from now on). Alright, I know, it's not all about me. On with the story.

First of all, Wubba picked out his own party theme. I took him down the party aisle at Target and waited to see if he would point to anything. Sure enough I heard, "BALL! BALL! MOMMA, BALL!" Ladies and Gentleman, we have a theme. I quickly contacted a friend who decorates cakes and asked her to make "Ball Cupcakes." Didn't she do a fantastic job! They were tasty too. I also found all kinds of ball themed party favors in the after Easter sales. Who knew sports balls mean Easter. None the less, it was a bargain.

To make his birthday extra special we had the whole family over for dinner (with the exception of PhoJo and Romeo...stinkin' work! Romeo was able to join us later but PhoJo works late into the night). A Four Sisters Farm signature dinner was served. Mexican food. We find that even our picky eaters can fill their tummies with good 'ol Mexican food.

After dinner, Grandpa and Grandma joined us. (EJ's folks - I've got to come up with a good name for each of them - they are so much fun and I can think of lots of fun nicknames!) Their arrival made this the first birthday party for either of my children where both sets of grandparents were present. What a special night. Look at Wubba's happy little face while both of his Grandmas are doting on him!

Here is our little family! Man, I love all my guys!

In true boy style Wubba quickly put on his new goggles and fired up his chain saw. As you know, every good farm boy has to have a chain saw. His brother has one and now Wubba has one to match. This is important since spring has arrived and many a tree needs to be cut down. Notice that he was still wearing it for the photo op with his grandparents.

Happy Birthday, Wubba! Thanks family for making it so special!

Sweet Freedom

In Pop's vision for Four Sisters Farm, he pictured a place where the grandkids could run wild and be free. That is definetly the case! As soon as we turn down the dirt road to the farm, the energy emmitted from the backseat of the Expedition is palpable. Fingers rest on the seatbelt eject buttons and pleas ring out to DRIVE FASTER...DRIVE FASTER! Speed is measured by how much dust is visible out the back window as we go down the road. FASTER, FASTER!!

It doesn't seem to matter if it is cold outside or burning hot...their little feet hit the ground running! They go on "adventures" (with supervision).
They climb on things...

they play with the cats...

they visit the chickens...

they check out the barn...

and anything else that they think might be fun! But by far, the most adventurous thing to do at the farm is to take a hike down to the pond.

They know the way and let me tell you...you'd better move fast if you want to keep up!

And the best part about their adventures is that they are building memories and close relationships all along the way.

Precious Acres

Four Sisters Farm is precious land to our family...not for what is grown there (there isn't much right now) and not for the fancy house or out buildings that dot the 40 acres (they are sufficient but not fancy) but because it is a place that is free from distractions. It is a place to breathe freely and love deeply and have some big fun together.

And at the end of the day, when we have to go our separate ways, we all have something to look forward to and dream about...the next time we all get to meet at the farm again.

The Family (Updated 2013)

Welcome to Four Sisters Farm. We are so glad you stopped by. Let's start out by introducing ourselves...

We'll begin with the two people who started this whole thing...Pop & Grammy. This picture is taken at their favorite place in the world. The farm. Look at them smooching after all those years of marriage. They must be doing something right!

This family adventure we call Four Sisters Farm started because of a dream Pop had. I think I'll let him post on that at some point. We are all having fun watching Pop's dream become a reality.

Let's go by birth order shall we? The firstborn of Pop and Grammy's girls is the Unconventional Doctor's wife (DW) and her hubby the Unconventional Doctor (Doc). They have four darling little ones...two boys and two girls. Here is a picture of them looking way too in love to have four children.
Their names link you to their blogs. Check them out because they are stinkin' funny. I am going to use the same nicknames DW uses so it won't be too confusing to remember who folks are.

Next in line is me...Farm Chick. I am married to this handsome man we call EJ. He is in the financial industry by day and super dad by night. :) EJ and I live just 15 minutes from Four Sisters Farm.   We moved to the city in 2011 but EJ is already itching to get back to the country.  We have three boys who keep us on our toes with their shenanigans and one sweet baby girl who brings joy to all of us.  Our third son was adopted at birth.  We were in the delivery room and got to love on his birth momma during the hospital stay.  We continue to keep in touch with her.  We are hoping to adopt again as soon as God allows.  You can follow our family at The Growing Table.

Next we have the third born daughter, Rock Star. She is also the photographer in our family. She takes the most gorgeous pics. Rock Star is married to PhoJo.  He gets his name from his passion for photo jouranlism.  His day job is in the medical field. Don't they look good together!  You can keep up with their family at Wanna Be Supermom.

Rock Star and PhoJo have three little boys and one little queen bee. They are funny and adorable. They love to come out to the farm and run free. It is so cool to watch the little ones out here.

The fourth sister is our baby sister, Pretty Princess. When she was born DW was 13, I was 10 and Rock Star was 7. We were all little mommas and tried to boss her around. Come to think of it...we are still doing that!

Pretty Princess is a Smitten Kitten and that cutie pie next to her is Romeo. They were childhood friends and now they are married. Aren't they adorable? Rock Star calls them "gross cute." Hee Hee. Young love! So far they have one little beautiful Princess.

Finally all the kiddos. We have a total of 13 of them! They are all so different and amazing. We believe that children are a gift from the Lord and we are very grateful for all of them! Pop and Grammy love having them all together.
