Studs

You can take that title any way you want to. It could be these studs that were put in the basement or it could be the awesome men who are doing all the work. When I asked EJ if they had the studs up he stood up and said, "Yes!"Grammy, do not be alarmed by the picture below. Pop assures me that the bathtub will not be smack dab in the middle of your room. Although, he did think it might be nice to roll out of bed and into the tub. As Gma used to say, "I'm gonna wash my filthy body!" Pop is posing here with the cowboys/foremen. It was tricky to get the shot without the boys jamming the tools into the Styrofoam stuff. Little stinkers!

This update was brought to you by farm chick...the lady who is keeping bellies full and underwear clean. It's a privilege to take care of this crew! :)

Another Step Completed

In any project the key is to have the right help. As you can see Pop has enlisted some very talented cowboys to oversee the project. The fact is that Pop and EJ should be doing these basement posts but they are just too busy. I don't know what that Styrofoam stuff is but Pop says it is to further insulate the basement walls. Also I think it protects from any moisture. They would carefully measure the wall then cut the stuff, then stick some goop on the back and then slap it up there. How's that for technical.Oh, then Pop makes sure stuff is level. I have noticed him doing that a lot. Turns out it's important for things to be level and plum or plumb...hmmm I don't know.
That's Romeo assisting in this pic. He has come out several times to help with the project. Thanks, Romeo! :)

Do the Funky Chicken

Hi, I'm Hattie the Hen. I have traumatic story to tell. It happened one Sunday afternoon. I was minding my own business looking for bugs and eating some weeds. One of Pop and Grammy's grandsons (I'm not going to say which one...I'm not looking to slander here...I just need to tell my story) wandered into the yard. I ran up to him thinking perhaps he had some tasty treats for me. That's when things went terribly wrong. Next thing I knew he had a hold of my tail feathers and I was flying around in a circle. I like to party as much as the next gal but a funky chicken dance in the air was not what I had in mind. Luckily for me Farm Chick arrived home. She looked in my direction and initially panicked because she thought I was attacking him. Can you imagine? Why in the world would I bite a kid. When she got closer to the situation she realized I was being held by my tail feathers and swung about. "STOP!" She yelled. When the wild ride came to an end I gathered up what was left of my feathers and dignity and headed for the hills.

Editors Note: Upon questioning the grandson involved admitted that he was only trying "to make an egg come out." Well there you go.

Taking a Break

Good thing we live in the country. A neighborhood association wouldn't stand for this! Doc and EJ are going to take care of this mess this afternoon. After working on the basement (and mowing) we had to get out and have a little fun. Check out EJ finishing up the mowing. I've never seen a guy look so happy to mow for hours on end. First, we fed the crew. All 8 grand kids are here and Rock Star has grand baby number nine in her tummy! Next a trip to the pond with cupcakes in hand. Then a visit to the chickens. The ladies really liked the berries DW picked for them.
Superman overcame his fear of the chickens and had a blast chasing them round the yard. In this photo I think the chicken is explaining that she is a nice girl and he doesn't have to be afraid of her.
Pretty Princess made it out there in her walking boot to say hello to the chickens. In this photo I am rounding up all the boys. They were probably taking off on some dangerous adventure when I messed up their plan.To finish off the night we went to the front yard and played some soccer.

Little Lady bug sat on the porch with her aunt and Daddy.

Isn't she so adorable!

Daisy the Wonder Dog

As you remember, I ran over my dog. Backed over her to be exact. She had surgery and was required to be on kennel rest for 6 weeks. At that point we took her to the vet for an x-ray. They determined that the leg needed a little more time before they did the surgery that would remove the pin. They did, however, allow her off kennel rest during the day. 4 more weeks have passed since then and it's time to schedule the pin removal. Here she is enjoying the good life on the farm.

Painting Dry-Lock on the Basement Walls

The name of the game is waterproofing the basement. We don't want moisture getting in. Pop has said he is going to do it right. I know it is taking more time but it will be worth it. Notice the doc, Lou Lou and I getting in on the painting action!

I had Lou take some pics of all the "stuff" in the basement. There is a lot of it. I like the artsy photo she took of the tools on the stair case with her Daddy and Pop working in the background.

Let the Remodel Begin

The boys are watching their daddy, their Pop and Pop's friend move a tub shower combo into the basement. It was a frustrating project to say the least. The guys had to practically tear the house apart to get it down there.
The cowboys couldn't stand it. They perched up in the window yelling, "Hey Pop!" "Hey Daddy!" "Pop, what are you doing?" "Pop, did your friend bring you here?" And on and on! Thankfully the guys were patient while their curious little voices rang out.

Make that 5 adults and 2 kiddos

Pretty Princess is coming to live with us too! We only get her for a couple of months because she will go back to school in August. It's been a long time since I got to live with one of my sisters. I know it will be fun! She is still recovering from her injury so it will be nice to have her where we can all take care of her. Old habits die hard. When you are the youngest I guess everyone wants to take care of you!

We cleared out the guest bedroom and turned it into her place. We still need to hang things up on the wall but it is coming together nicely.

We only have three bedrooms on the main floor. Ours, the cowboys and Pretty Princess' pad so that leaves no room for Pop who will be here renovating the basement. We had to get creative. Check out Pop's place in the unfinished basement. I did my best to make it look homey. (is that a word?)
Do you think by placing a book on his night stand he won't notice the piles of storage in his room? Probably not going to work but it's worth a shot.

I am excited to have a full house! I called Rock Star to tell her that. She laughed and said this was probably my dream. (I always love having everyone around). Rock Star seemed a little concerned, "call me on day three" she said. I replied, "Will I sounds something like this...EVERYONE IS MAD AND NO ONE WILL EAT MY MEATLOAF!" She just laughed. When I relayed the story to Pop he said, "If that happens, you might have to relegate us to the barn!"
